Group Exercise Class Descriptions
Spring 2007
Wellness Services offers numerous programs geared to both men and women of all fitness levels, taught by certified Binghamton University students. Our enthusiastic and dedicated instructors are here to encourage you to meet your fitness goals, teaching classes at the intermediate level and showing modifications as needed. They provide a safe, fun, and effective program that targets cardiovascular fitness, muscle toning, and flexibility.
We offer an array of exciting Group Exercise classes certain to get your body moving! Group Exercise classes are included in FitSpace memberships or you may purchase a Group Exercise Only membership!

Classes
Absolute Abs
d b= Our15-minute absolute abs class is designed to compliment your existing cardiovascular workout. Come get motivated with the group while performing a variety of toning techniques to give you the best overall workout for your abs!
Boot
Camp b=
Talk about a major portion of fun!! If you don’t want to miss a muscle try this class! The instructors will mix a variety of exercise styles and equipment into this class creating a combination of endurance and interval training for a cardio and muscle challenge.
Cardio Butts &
Guts d b=
This energetic class combines the two essentials, cardio and toning. Get a great total body workout in an hour! Modifications for all fitness levels will be given. The first half of the class is cardio; the second half is toning, using hand weights, tubes, ball, step and your body weight.
Cardio Kick & Jump d b=
Tired of the basic aerobic class?? Spice it up! Cardio Kick & Jump is a high energy class that uses dance moves and simple routines to build up cardio endurance. A portion of the class is also dedicated to weight training and muscle strengthening.
Kickboxingb=
Get ready for this! One of our most popular classes is back in full force! This class includes an energizing aerobic workout utilizing martial arts and kick boxing moves for cardiovascular conditioning and toning for overall muscle endurance.
Kick Butts & Guts d b=
Love to sweat? This kickboxing class offers cardiovascular training with an extra dose of strength training added in-results guaranteed!
Muscle Max d b=
Talk about strong, sculpted, healthy bodies! Muscle Max offers strength training for the upper and lower body using free weights, bands, ball and the step.
On The Ball d b=
The stability ball is not only a great core workout, wait until you see what it does for your legs!
PiYod b=
PiYo is the perfect complimentary blend of pilates and yoga for strength and flexibility.
Power Yogad b=
You’ll love the way you feel after this dynamic yoga inspired class. Power Yoga includes toning, stretching, and breathing. A perfect compliment to a cardiovascular workout.
SPINNING®
Spinning is for everybody, not just the “hard core” athlete. Although enthusiastic athletes enjoy this workout, we have found that men and women of all ages, abilities and fitness levels enjoy SPINNING. The class is a non-impact, individually paced, non-competitive, group training system designed for all riders and fitness levels. Using spinning bikes, music and visualization techniques, we motivate each participant towards their own unique goals. The instructors will get your heart pumping with different Training Energy Zones:
- Endurance: focuses on challenging the cardiovascular system with a smooth steady rhythm.
- Interval: a more intense ride stimulating hills and flats
- Strength: involves heavier resistance simulating climbing hills while pedaling at a consistent pace.
- Recovery: gentle ride encouraging recovery, rest and rejuvenation
- Race Day; occasionally this ride will be scheduled for the experienced riders
SPIN® n' Tone

Love to Spin, but need a twist? This dynamic spinning class offers both Spinning and toning in one class! Toning is added at the end of each class to enhance your overall fitness routine.
Step Aerobics

Mix up your cardiovascular training workout using a 4 to 8 inch step, sweat guaranteed! Challenge your brain, feet and heart while exercising - a perfect cross training class.
Sweatshop
b=
Are you ready to bring it up a notch? This class will definitely get your body jumping and pumping! A mid-to-high intensity cardiovascular workout using the step and/or ball, combined with weights for the muscle strengthening component.
Yoga Pilates

This class infuses yoga, pilates, dance, and gymnastic type moves along with breathing techniques to enhance your overall strength, endurance, balance and flexibility. Great for your mind and body!
